Effect of entomopathogenic nematodes Steinernema species (steinernematidae: rhabditida) and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora (heterorhabditidae: rhabditida) on the digestive enzymes and midgut histology of the African migratory locust Locusta migratoria migratorioides (acrididae: orthoptera)

چکیده

Abstract In some governorates of Egypt, the African migratory locust L. migratoria migratorioides is in a gregarious phase. Swarm development was successfully prevented by biological control agents. this work, two entomopathogenic nematode species, Steinernema sp. (SII)and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora (HP88) were investigated as natural enemies against fifth nymph and adult locusts at various concentrations (300, 600, 900, 1200, 1500 Infected juveniles/100 g. soil). To ascertain fatal activity 25 °C, nematode-inoculated sand method used. The species semi-field administered nymphs stages (25 ± 2 °C) 55–60% relative humidity with (3000, 6000, 9000, 12000, 15000 juveniles/kg. Protease, amylase, invertase, trehalase levels digestive enzymes both adults fed LC 50 nematodes significantly decreased, but lipase chitinase increased. Adult treated S . SII had basophilic epithelial cells, severe lumen hemorrhage, highly aberrant proliferating cytoplasm, whereas H. HP88 displayed necrosis an cell vacuoles, loss nucleus, goblet cells.

Soil samples were collected from the whole territory of the Czech Republic, and the presence of entomopathogenic nematodes from the families Steinernematidae and Heterorhabditidae was evaluated by Galleria traps method. Of the 342 samples studied, 53.8% were positive for entomopathogenic nematodes with only one positive for the heterorhabditid, Heterorhabditis megidis Poinar, Jackson et Klein, ...

Survey of entomopathogenic nematodes from the families Steinernematidae and Heterorhabditidae (Nematoda: Rhabditida) in Colima, México

A survey of entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) belonging to the families Steinernematidae and Heterorhabditidae was conducted in three municipalities on the Pacific coast of the State of Colima, México, to determine their occurrence and recovery frequency and predominant plant species in cultivated and non-cultivated habitats. Nineteen soil samples were collected: seven from non-cultivated habit...

Occurrence of entomopathogenic nematodes (Rhabditida: Steinernematidae and Heterorhabditidae) in Meghalaya, NE India

In the present study, the entomopathogenic nematodes were recorded from 89 samples (5.37%) out of 1656 samples collected from 20 sites representing ecologically diverse types of habi ta ts in Meghalaya, India . Out of 89 positive samples, the frequency of occurrence of Steinernema spp. was found to be more (73.03%) than Heterorhabditis sp. (26.97%). All the EPN positive samples were from the fo...

Dalotia coriaria (Kraatz) (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) and entomopathogenic nematodes (Rhabditida: Heterorhabditidae and Steinernematidae) are two soil-dwelling biological control agents used to manage western flower thrips, Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) and fungus gnats Bradysis spp. (Diptera: Sciaridae) in glasshouses. Growers often use multiple natural enemie...

BIOLOGICAL CONTROL Application Technology for the Entomopathogenic Nematodes Heterorhabditis indica and Steinernema sp. (Rhabditida: Heterorhabditidae and Steinernematidae) to Control Spodoptera frugiperda (Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) in Corn1

The effects of different application technologies were evaluated on the concentration, viability, and effi ciency of infective juveniles of the nematodes Heterorhabditis indica Poinar, Karunakar & David and Steinernema sp. (IBCB-n6) to control Spodoptera frugiperda Smith on corn plants. Two hundred and eighty infective juveniles of Steinernema sp. were required to kill 100% third-instar fall ar...
